Your Avatar

When Mistress MJ started this blog, she did not have an avatar and thought she could do without one until she discovered there were other MJs in the blogosphere.

So she asked you bitches to help her choose an avatar and this is the one you picked…

That’s Mistress MJ above, wearing her stripey tights and The Freakin’ Green Elf Shorts, with a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey between her legs.

This week our friend Anonymous Boxer (the birthday girl) gets a new avatar...

Oh, be sure to wish Boxer a happy birthday in the post below this one.

XL changed his avatar earlier this week. Mistress MJ always enjoyed seeing XL’s kitteh face in her comments box…

...and she was disappointed to see he’d replaced it with this whilst under the influence of one too many absinthe shots...

An upset MJ convinced XL to change it back to the kitteh. (insert sigh of relief here).

We want to know the story behind your avatar.

What is it? And why did you choose it?

If you don't have an avatar, why not?

Note: Another post beneath this one.

  1. I'm happy without one. I like to keep things simple for me. Also, I wouldn't be able to decide what pic to use as an avatar...and I think there's only one of me with a blog, so, I'm okay.

  2. I found it on wikipedia in an article about Yves Klein. I had forgotten his name and was looking for the Blue. Klein was a mad Frenchman searching for The Perfect Blue: a monochrome, deep, brain-wringing blue. He found it.
In Frankfurt/M. was an exhibition some years ago - if you ever have a chance to see his works, especially these large blue "areas" go and see. Klein even had a copyright on a special blue. He was an avantguardist of purest kind and used different tools to bring colour to canvas, as flamethrowers, naked women and other. He died in his early thirties 1962 - I guess. Go and read yourself.

The image was there, in Klein's Blue and labeled: "The sign of chaos". For me it is definitely no sign of chaos. And it does not imply that I would see myself as being pulled in different directions.
It shows a strong center and out of this center, in all directions, arrows of interest point. I understand it as visualization of the mind of a person which tries to look - and see! - in any direction.
My original ponem would only shy away the readership ...

  3. Mine is "Ruk". He's a robot character in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" - an episode of the original Star Trek.

He was played by Ted Cassidy - best known as the towering, gravel voiced, wise but tight lipped Lurch from The Addams Family. Not a million miles away from Ruk, in fact.

    There's more info here.

So why is Ruk my current avatar? Because:
    (1) He's an outsider
    (2) He looks really cynical
    (3) He's put-upon but gets on with his job without complaining
    (4) He's much smarter and more intereresting than all the other characters around him.

And that's why he's just like me! :-).

Maybe I'll use the absinthe one on FaceBook or Twitter. Ha!

  7. I like this post, because I've been wondering about mago's avatar.

And I love Kapitano's--Kapitano, I recognized yours right away--

Funnily, I changed my avatar last night. I thought I'd take the glasses off and pretend I'm not totally blind.

  8. My avatar is never static. I change it when I feel like it, when I get tired of what it looks like.

Right now, it is a close-up of a tiny pony sculpture that sits on my desk. The pony is (and I measured it!) two inches from tip of nose to end of tail, one inch high and one inch wide. I picked it up a few years ago at a tack shop (where one buys horse related gear) because it is cute and it is a bobblehead. It almost looks like it has Parkinson's disease because the head very slightly wobbles all the time just from the vibrations that travel through my desk of my fingers on the keyboard.

I do have to watch that That Damn Cat doesn't steal it though. She likes little things to bat around the house. Or eat.

I have had various pictures of myself up as well as my horse, my dog and my cats.

So, basically, you will never know what the cat will drag in next. I change my avatar almost as often as I change my socks.

I've been to a Klein blue exhibition! It hurts.
Anyhow, I chose this avatar because it just kind of suited the blog. I was looking for a pic of Marilyn Monroe... but then I found the morphing site...

  12. my avatar is my dog cosmo throwing a hissy fit...she got pissed off at me because i told her "no" and to go into the other room...she sat on the couch like that for hours one day...just glaring at me. Why i picked it...well it pretty well summed up what i was feeling (and really still am) at work one day and that was the day i put it on...plus i love this dog, she has more character than any others i have ever known...

EROS: I'm happy without one. I like to keep things simple for me. Also, I wouldn't be able to decide what pic to use as an avatar...and I think there's only one of me with a blog, so, I'm okay.

Why don’t you use your nudie pic as your avatar?

MAGO: I found it on wikipedia in an article about Yves Klein...searching for the perfect blue

    Yves Klein?

Well so much for me going on yesterday about knowing a lot about mad French artistes whereas you are the Karl Popper authority.

I stand corrected. And in awe of your avatar.

Just because I appear to be drinking heavily and have my legs spread apart doesn’t mean I’m a lesser character.

*falls off barstool and creates ladder in tights*

XL: Miss Scarlet also expressed a preference for the goddamn cat.

    Good idea.

Mistress MJ will never find you there.

    Go on, XL.

    Answer his question.

Do I have to do everything?

    Majo? Teehee.

What is the squirrel trying to fend off?

A crazed homeowner disguising himself as a shrubbery in an attempt to guard his birdfeeder?

LEAH: Funnily, I changed my avatar last night. I thought I'd take the glasses off and pretend I'm not totally blind.

Infomaniac is available in a Braille edition should you find it troublesome to read the fine print.

PONITA: I change my avatar almost as often as I change my socks.

  18. KNUDSEN: My avatar is of the world's greatest blogger, I picked this one cos he is the world's greatest blogger.

You won’t get any argument from me.

I would suggest you post the pic against a background of the heavens opening.

SCARLET: Anyhow, I chose this avatar because it just kind of suited the blog. I was looking for a pic of Marilyn Monroe... but then I found the morphing site...

Can you get morphine on the morphing site?

If so, please give me their URL.

KAZ: I like xl's kitteh 'Mucha' better.

    Mucha…good one Kaz!

I voted for the stripey tights they are brilliant - I have black and grey stripes cos I'm a minimalist.

We should be photographed together from the thighs down in our stripey tights and Docs.

I chose Joanna as she's about my age and very glamorous.

I like this clip of Joanna Lumley when she demonstrates to Graham Norton how to get out of a car without showing your knickers or crushing your beehive hairdo. (fast forward to approx. 9:05 mins).

    Welcome back, Daisy!

We hope your mood lifts soon.

    Let’s go pick on Beast.

    That always helps.

SCARLET: What were the other possible MJ avatars?

Try to pay attention, Miss Scarlet.

Mistress MJ provided a link to the other avatars in the text where it says, “So she asked you bitches to help her choose an avatar and this is the one you picked…”

Click on the highlighted bit that says “choose an avatar”.

Really…do I have to post instructions in flashing neon lights?

I've stopped having nightmares about rebirth, but the combination of drink and Elf shorts is too close to the bone for comfort.

I’ve had a little too many avatars in my blog time. I don’t know who I am anymore.

  25. I have changed my avatar as well! Was this the change your avatar week or just the normal spring cleaning?

Mine was a polarized picture of myself; now is a detail from an unknown artist depicting a fat sissy boy in a pony holding a flower. It really resembles me as a child. How I hated those shoes that my mother forced me to wear with white socks and shorts...

But soon I will change it again to a new picture of my actual self.

    The key word being ‘sucker’.

    Welcome to Infomaniac!

This is your first time here, isn’t it? Yet I’ve seen you round at Old Knudsen’s, Tony’s, Savannah’s, Heff’s, and Istvanski’s to name but a few.

Obviously my avatar’s made you keep your distance ‘til now.

I won’t hurt you although I might try to get “close to the bone” as you say.

You’ve become quite reckless as the years have passed.

Submitting your teen angst pic is proof!

Not to mention all the Twittering.
