Super Dickmanns

Back in 2009, we here at Infomaniac posed the question, "What is the biggest object you’ve ever fit into your mouth?" See post here. We also asked, "What is the greatest number of similar objects (e.g. gumballs or marshmallows) that you’ve fit into your mouth at once?"

This person makes a nice try by putting her fist into her mouth but she pales in comparison to our friend, Mago.

Infomaniac Bitch, Mago claimed he can fit THREE Super Dickmann's into his mouth at once!

And so we wondered, "What are Super Dickmann's?"

Super Dickmann's are a popular German chocolate confectionery with a white, foamy filling. They're also known as chocolate foam kisses. As you can see, they are quite big...

Super Dickmann's motto: "Man, they are Dickmann!"

If you can't handle Super Dickmann's, try the smaller mini Dickmann's...

Mini Dickmann's are also known as Schoko Strolche. I'm not sure of the English translation but here's my guess. Schoko is an abbreviation for chocolate. However, Strolche appears to have the following meanings: hoodlum, tramp, vagabond, thug, rascal. What exactly are they trying to tell us?

And for those of you who like THICK NUTS, try Super Dickmann's Dicke Nüsse (literal translation: Thick Nuts.) ...

With so much chocolately goodness to choose from, is it any wonder you want to stuff them into your mouth?

Guten Appetit, Bitches!

Nonetheless, she knows that some of you enjoy the sport so she is throwing you Bitches a Super Bowl Sunday party.

Enjoy the meatloaf...

Filthy Friday - Nutrition Edition

Peel that banana and what do you see?...

PHLOEM BUNDLES!...

See those stringy bits? Technically, they're called "phloem bundles" (pronounced "FLO-em") and they distribute nutrients up and down the banana as it grows. They're a rich source of potassium, fibre, vitamin A, and vitamin B6.

We here at Infomaniac want to know ... do you Bitches eat the phloem bundles?

Yes, We Have No Bananas

Earlier this year, the Chinese government banned erotic "banana-eating" on live-stream Internet.

New regulations mean that live-streaming sites must monitor all their output round-the-clock to ensure nothing untoward is going on, keeping an eye out for any "erotic" banana-eating.

More details here.

No mention was made of where the Chinese officials stand on cake.

German Cuisine

Germany is known for its quality beer, delicious sausages, and mouth-watering Apfelstrudel.

But have you sampled the other side of German cuisine? Behold. German cocktail weenies and Cheese Crack...

But just when we thought it couldn't get any wurst worse, Infomaniac presents "Tote Oma"...

Translated into English as "DEAD GRANDMA," Tote Oma consists of minced blood sausage fried with onions and bacon (recipe may vary according to regional preferences.) This dish is also known as “Verkehrsunfall” or "TRAFFIC ACCIDENT."

Guten Appetit!

We're fresh out of sausage rolls so we've sent Norma out shopping for snack food at the Infomaniac Grocery Store...

Any requests?

Sausage Roll, Anyone?

Following kabuki zero's out-of-control Sissy Boy Slap Party last evening in the RUMPus Room (thank you, Cookie,) everyone was a little peckish.

Thankfully, LX whipped up some sausage rolls in the kitchen. Feel free to take a nibble as he comes 'round with his tray of delights.

Talking Turkey

It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada.

Why I won’t be purchasing a turkey to cook on Thanksgiving Day…

…especially (don’t click on the link if you’re sensitive, like me, to animal cruelty) a Butterball turkey.

Recently, I was watching a television programme where a turkey farmer was being interviewed. In the background, a “tom” (male turkey) was fidgeting about. The interviewer asked, “What is that turkey doing?” to which the farmer replied, “He’s masturbating.”

The fact that a turkey was frantically masturbating on national television and this event was treated like it was nothing unusual, gave me pause for thought. (And I know what you’re thinking. A masturbating turkey sounds rather amusing but I was not laughing.)

Because suddenly it hit me why the turkey was masturbating.

Today’s “super turkeys” (also known as the “Broad Breasted White”); the kind most often found in your supermarket, are bred on overcrowded factory farms for maximum breast size. Because of their over-sized breasts, the toms are too heavy to mate naturally with the hens. The hens must be artificially inseminated. It’s a traumatic experience for both males and females. So is it any wonder that the turkey on TV was masturbating?

Call me old-fashioned but in my opinion, this isn’t right.

The hens are never in contact with their chicks. As a result, the chicks don’t learn survival skills based on behavioural clues from their mothers, not to mention that hen and chick are deprived of maternal bonding.

Above: How it should be.

Turkeys not forced to live on factory farms “spend their days caring for their young, building nests, foraging for food, taking dust baths, preening themselves, and roosting high in trees.” These simple, natural pleasures are denied the factory farm turkeys.

Oh, and did I mention that due to their large size, factory farm turkeys can’t run or fly? Wild turkeys can fly at speeds up to 55 miles an hour and run 18 miles an hour. Factory farm turkeys don’t run; they waddle.

The turkeys our ancestors raised or purchased, known today as “heritage turkeys,” have become rare breeds although there are efforts underway to increase their numbers.

I'm not insisting that we all become vegetarians but the manner in which the food industry operates must be challenged and changed.

So if you do eat turkey, perhaps you’ll consider purchasing a local, organic, small farm-raised turkey, or a heritage turkey instead. Even if the issue of ethical turkey farming isn’t important to you, you’ll notice an improvement in the flavor.

Wenis Wednesday - Spaghetti Edition

"Anthony! Anthony!"

Wednesday is not just Wenis Wednesday...Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti Day.

Allow me to explain. And thanks to our Thom for enlightening me.

Boston-based "Prince Pasta" is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Watch this 1969 commercial for "Prince Pasta" which ran for 13 years...

The cry of "Anthony! Anthony!" became as recognizable in American pop culture as "Stella!" in "A Streetcar Named Desire."

"Advertising for the company during the period before the 1950s was mainly done in Italian newspapers since spaghetti and macaroni were considered an ethnic food.

Around 1953, Mr. Pellegrino hired the advertising firm of Jerome O'Leary of Boston where they created the famous slogan "Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti Day." This was an attempt to introduce non-Italians to pasta products. The advertising at this time was done on radio. Prince sponsored "The Stan Freberg Show"; and later did television commercials sponsoring the Sunday Night Movie of the Week. This was a big advancement for Prince. Joseph P. Pellegrino II continued to take an active part in the business in the early 1960s with aggressive advertising and promotions. In 1969, the famous "Anthony" TV commercial was introduced to the public."

Now you know.

What are your Italian food preferences, Bitches?

NOTE: A happy Rosh Hashanah to our 3.5 Jewish readers. You got upstaged by the Italians when Thom sent me the photograph.

The Infomaniac Healthy Eating Plan: innovative new lifestyle guide or doomed social experiment?

Are You Getting Enough Roughage?

Corn is a good source of thiamin, folic acid, phosphorus, vitamin C, magnesium and dietary fibre or "roughage."

"Corn is a food that gives us plenty of chewing satisfaction, and its high ratio of insoluble-to-soluble fiber is partly the reason."

But its "insoluble fiber is tops at tackling common digestive ailments (like constipation and hemorrhoids) by absorbing water, which swells the stool and speeds its movement."

Salt Sugar Fat: The Unholy Trinity

Stop!

[via]

Before you fill up that shopping cart, read this book...

In Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us, Michael Moss takes us inside the labs where food scientists use cutting-edge technology to calculate the “bliss point” of sugary beverages or enhance the “mouthfeel” of fat by manipulating its chemical structure. He unearths marketing campaigns designed—in a technique adapted from tobacco companies—to redirect concerns about the health risks of their products: Dial back on one ingredient, pump up the other two, and tout the new line as “fat-free” or “low-salt.” He talks to concerned executives who confess that they could never produce truly healthy alternatives to their products even if serious regulation became a reality. Simply put: The industry itself would cease to exist without salt, sugar, and fat. Just as millions of “heavy users”—as the companies refer to their most ardent customers—are addicted to this seductive trio, so too are the companies that peddle them. You will never look at a nutrition label the same way again.

The author shows us the ruthless tactics that food company giants employ to cash in on our cravings. Snack food, for example, is aggressively marketed to lower income families and children.

Yet when food company executives were asked if they feed their products to their own children, the answer was "no."

Some of you Bitches are struggling with weight loss. If you're wondering why the pounds aren't coming off, you might be surprised to find out why. Food companies are going all out to make sure you crave their foods by adding additional salt, sugar and fat to many of the foods you think are good choices nutritionally. Not only is it a deterrent to weight loss, it's a health hazard.

[via]

But let's say you don't eat junk food. Think you're making a smart choice with yogurt or spaghetti sauce? Yoplait contains twice as much sugar per serving as Lucky Charms! Half a cup of Prego Traditional spaghetti sauce has as much sugar as three Oreo cookies AND a third of the daily salt intake recommended for most Americans.

Mistress MJ, who thought she was a wise consumer, had her eyes opened by this book. We hope you will too.

So put down that cupcake and read Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us.

As Michael Moss says, If nothing else, this book is intended as a wake-up call to the issue and tactics at play in the food industry, to the fact that we are not helpless in facing them down. We have choices, particularly when it comes to grocery shopping, and I saw this book, on its most basic level, as a tool for defending ourselves when we walk through those doors.
