Paradise by the Dashboard Light

And by “Dashboard” we’re referring to Blogger’s new Dashboard interface.

Which is decidedly NOT Mistress MJ’s idea of paradise.

By now, all you Blogger bloggers will have seen this notice on your Dashboard... “The old Blogger interface will be removed in the coming month” ... “coming month” meaning MAY.

Mistress MJ tried the new Dashboard and nearly had a breakdown as she was composing a very long post with a lot of photos.

Thankfully, I was able to return to the old Blogger Dashboard by following these simple directions…

Look in the top right hand corner of your dashboard, under your profile photo.

See the widget symbol to the right of the box that says “English”? Hover your mouse over the widget and you’ll see that it says “Blogger options.”

Click the widget and scroll down to “Old Blogger Interface.” Click on it and you’ll be returned to your old Dashboard.

Unfortunately, it's only a matter of time (days?) before we'll no longer have a choice between the old Dashboard and the new Dashboard.

We’d love to hear from YOU Bitches on how the new Dashboard is working out for you.

If you have any helpful TIPS for the rest of us, that would be lovely.

Mistress MJ is dreading trying to put together the Infomaniac Bitches Got Talent art exhibition post using the new Dashboard.

Give me strength, Bitches.

Oh, and click here to see Mr. Peenee’s Blogger meltdown and here to see Princess’s Blogger breakdown.

We’re all in this together, Bitches.

I'm still not used to where some things are located though, and I find the more gin I drink, the easier it is to use! Maybe I should just dick tate to one of the houseboys to compose me down.......

But I've been fooling and using it, so I will be paying closer attention and will share anything with the bitches....

Mistress need not feel pressured to post about her talented bitches any time soon, for after all, they are her bitches....

  4. remember, blogger/google/youtube snatched my youtube account and banished it forever. i despise them and hope they get exactly what they deserve.

i too "switched back" a few days ago, knowing they'll win.

i just finished trying to watch the finale of drag race, but spent part of the time watching a blank screen or tiling and another part on the phone with the losers at comcast. this happened almost every week on monday nights, seemingly only on LOGO. if only i could tell them to "sashay away," i would.

  7. Mostly, I just hate my blogger feed. i've learned to live with the photo posting etc...

  8. I couldn't have said it better, although I would probably have said it more shrilly and stridently.

The biggest problem is trying to place the photos, they wander all over the place, the type wraps around it oddly and what you see when you're composing the post has so little to do with the final product it just seems arbitrary.

    1. Being a bit of a geek, I never post my photos directly into the blog. I upload them all to Piqasa or Photobucket first, then write the blog in Notepad (which comes with Windows) and copy and paste the photo HTML code in the places where I want the photos.

I change the HTML to include the command width="***" (usually "600" for portrait and "640" for landscape) in order to make sure they aren't too huge. Then I copy and paste the whole thing into Blogger. It's a faff, but it works. Jx

    2. JON: It's great to know we have a geek freak on board lest Mr. LX "Personal IT Consultant To Mistress MJ" take a day off.

However, I'm sure if I attempted what you've just described, I'd have to lie down for the rest of the week in a dark room with a cold compress.

  12. What have we learned here so far today?

That the more we drink, the easier it will be to use and that Blogger is being run by a potted palm.

My biggest complaint is that I see too much HTML code in my draft. I can’t see what I’m doing for all the code! Am I wrong or was it easier to see my text in the old Dashboard?

I’ll have that foot massage now, Mago.

    2. What's in post settings, Miss Scarlet?

      An open bar?

    3. I wish! Or a crete of valium.
Click on 'New Post' and then to the right of the post box it says 'post settings', click on this and then 'options'. You might have your options set to 'Show HTML literally ' so you might need to uncheck this box. I don't know - it's still a bit of a mystery to me!

  13. I hate it.
But I've not had any problems with pics yet... it's all in the settings.
The one thing that ruined my experience was the return key.. I couldn't figure out why everything was flying about, so under Post settings I clicked on Press 'Enter' for line breaks and it's not so bad now.
You really have to look under every stone to make it work for you. It's not user friendly, maybe Blogger is trying to get rid of us?

    1. That is the one that really pissed me off - on the old version, you only had to tick this box once and it remembered the setting forever. When I tried using the new editor (briefly, before I went back to the original again), I had to remember to click this option every time otherwise the post went all over the place. Jx

  14. I fucking hate GOOGLE and the Google Fuckwits for what they have done. It's counter-intuitive - design for design's sake - and why in the fuck do they make it so damn hard to get from the dash board to you blog?

That said - I have been using it for two months and you do get used to it like a top will get used to a dick up his arse, but its never going to be easy to take the whole thing.

What a world, what a world, oh, my lovely evilness...

  17. I'm dealing with it by moving to fucking Wordpress. And shit just got real earlier tonight when the hubby discovered Picasa, owned by Google and the place that hosts Blogger pictures, is forcing everyone to agree to a new TOS which says they won't allow nudes and associated naughtiness.

In two years we'll all be blogging on Russian websites because U.S.-based companies won't allow us to even say the word "boob" before shutting us down, I swear.
