2016, Begone!

2016: A year that robbed us of Gigastars David Bowie and kabuki zero.

And handed to us on a silver platter the racist, sexist, homophobic piece of shit that is Donald Drumpf...

[thanks, Jeffery]

Go fuck yourself, 2016!

The Mistress hopes to return in 2017 with an improved attitude. Call it a New Year's resolution, if you wish. (Good luck with that, I hear you say.)

Until that time, let's remember that there are still pleasures to be found, as the late kabuki zero reminded us six years ago in his 2010 wrap-up...
"This year came and went so badly, it was hard to find pleasure. but here are some things i favored:

cooking outdoors. silk pajamas. godiva dark chocolate. pot roast w/ winter vegetables. hot air balloons (viewed from the ground. kabuki gets vertigo BIG TIME) watching jewelry auction television. hot bubble baths with a good comic book. listening to my parrot, who mostly speaks when i am in another room. old friends. finding out an old flame is still alive - and looking like hell. really nice bed linens. and getting my very own blog, happy one year anniversary to the man who told the world."
-- kabuki zero

Note: Read the Find A Grave memorial to Billy aka kabuki zero here, beautifully written by Cookie.

  1. It has been a rough year, and I can't believe that it's almost over. Where did the time go? I feel like I got lost in the shuffle, just reacting to the stresses and problems instead of finding direction.

This new year, I plan to make a list of important things to do and follow through. The first thing on that list is to be a better person, and that begins by letting the people who are important to me know how much they mean to me, while I still have the chance.

So thank you, MJ, for your support and friendship, for all the laughs, the wisdom, and for being a wonderful person and fantastic host. You make me smile and give me hope.

Cheers to a wonderful New Year full of good food, good company, and good times.

    1. EROS: I should be thanking YOU for the words of wisdom and hope on YOUR blog.

One good thing about 2016 was your blog posts. I especially enjoyed the stories about your rural childhood. What with both of us sharing rural backgrounds, albeit in different parts of the world, I could identify with your experiences. And those who’ve never mucked a horse stall could still enjoy your stories.

Happy New Year! And keep on blogging. At one point, we thought you’d disappeared.

  3. Well, it's been a ride, this sodding year, and while as for me, it wasn't the absolute worst (2015 having set the bar mighty low, what with open-heart and all), it was damn close. As for what lies ahead - well, tonight, we're having a good dinner with good friends, and we'll worry about the rest tomorrow...

Happy New Year all. Confusion to our enemies!

    1. MUSCATO: Never mind your enemies, I think your leader is confused.

Let’s take 2017 one day at a time.

By the way, you didn’t need open heart. Your heart was already open.

  4. A Happy New year to you too and all the swell animals here at the Infomaniac!!!! Hell, I have been doing just what the elf has been doing above to trump since he announced he was running! But there have been some good things to me and yet again Kabuki has inspired me to search the positive, which I may post later. Again, a very HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ’„๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿธ๐Ÿน๐Ÿธ๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽ‡

  6. It's around 4 am here in oz. Outside the world is dark and silent. I awoke and realised that i'd managed to "sleep-in" the new year, and it was delightful thank you. Princess is not much of a reveller these days.
May the new year be better for all of us....
