8,000 cans (over 5 tonnes) of maple syrup are on their way to Norway from grateful Canadians.
Norwegian coach Bjoernar Haakensmoen came to the rescue of Canadian cross-country skier Sara Renner at the Turin Olympics when Renner broke her ski pole. Haakensmoen handed Renner a spare pole and Renner went on to win the silver medal. Norway placed fourth in the event.
Thousands of cans of maple syrup will be distributed to Norwegians.
No word on whether or not Norwegians will send lutefisk to Canada in return.
