Hugs, Not Uggs

Hugs...

Not Uggs...

It's National Hugging Day. We encourage you to hug someone rather than even think about wearing the latest trend: thigh-high Uggs. Nor regular Uggs. Nor anything resembling Uggs.

NOTE: You may have noticed the "In Memoriam" image for our Huggy Jon (Deep Blue) on the sidebar. I placed it there today but I don't actually know whether or not he's passed away.

On October 15th, 2017 he said, "Yes, my dear friends, it's time for me to say good bye. Unless for a miracle, I should be gone soon. This is the last message. There will not be any further announcement."

He stated that he had started the process for palliative care.

Whether or not he is still alive, I don't know. I only know that he lives on in our hearts and I wanted to pay tribute to him with the image. And appropriately enough, today really is National Hugging Day.

In retrospect, I should have posted about adding the image, so as not to alarm anyone.

    3. I've updated this post with a note about the "In Memoriam" image for Huggy Jon (Deep Blue.)

    4. What a lovely photo of dear Huggy Jon! Look at his happy, smiling face! This is how he'll always be to me now. Thank you, Very Mistress.

    5. MR. DeVICE: I’m fond of that photo of Jon, too.

His blog URL was thesmilingangel.blogspot.com …

So I like to think of him now as a smiling angel.

    3. MISTRESS MADDIE: LX was banned just the other day for mentioning Kenny Loggins. The Mistress has an aversion to Loggins' "Pooh Corner" song.

  3. I'm not hugging anyone today - they'd end up covered in mud. Jx

    1. JON: I believe there’s a fetishists’ association for that sort of thing.

  4. NOOOOOOOOOO. The thigh high Uggs make the wearer look like they were once really, really fat and after a diet they have been left with excess skin. I bet those boots are heavy. How silly.

    1. MISS SCARLET: You’re right… extra folds of sagging skin.

Which reminds me, I really should get outdoors for a walk.

  5. As your aware, I work as a visual stylist. Two things I WILL NEVER use on a mannequin. Uggs or Ivanka Trump shoes...though we are dumping the later of that slag.

Meanwhile I do get to hug plenty of homosexuals!!!! So it's a win.

    1. LX: I miss Huggy Jon. He was a good spirit. And he had so many interests... classical music, opera and languages, just to name a few.

And he's the one who helped me with the French translation of "Banned By Infomaniac!" A sign which you appear to have disobeyed, by the way.

  7. I think the name says it all: UGH!

I sort of got lost in all the links and had to come back to comment. I don't know how I came to read Jon's last post, but I remember seeing/reading it. It's so sad and yet, also strange, to see the In Memoriam list of people/bloggers whose words I've read and knowing that we'll never meet in person even though it feels as if we already have. I feel old. xoxox

    2. SAVANNAH: Embrace the hugs, ignore the Uggs.

I could have visited Huggy Jon during one of my many visits to Montreal. However, The Mistress has a personality disorder which prevents her from reaching out to people she hasn’t met, even though she’d like to.

  8. Well, I haven't Hugged a Homosexual for a while, but I did just have a lovely hug from each of my nieces. The Little Witch is always good for a hug, but Grumplestiltskin surprised me as she normally turns herself inside out rather than submit to a hug.

    1. MR. DeVICE: Keep hugging Grumplestiltskin so she doesn’t turn into someone like me, i.e. not a “people person.”

    1. NORMA: I would love for him to make a miraculous recovery and astonish us with a comeback and berate me for placing an “In Memoriam” on the sidebar. However, after three months since his comment about palliative care, I have to be realistic.

  11. Hugs are wonderful. And Huggy Jon is a wonderful person. If he is no longer here on this earth with us, it's because the Lord needed another angel; so Huggy Jon is now spreading hugs and love across a universe that needs his guidance and care.

Good journey, Huggy Jon. Another star shines up the heavens, to guide us and light up the dark night.

    1. EROS: I wish he hadn’t removed the majority of his blog posts which often had words of wisdom.

However, he will make a beautiful and loving angel.

And as he used to sign off his email messages to me, “Gros bisou et câlin” which means “Big kiss and hug.”
