Flip Flops Fail

In addition to the good news that Crocs are bad for your health, comes The Truly Terrifying Case of Wearing Flip-Flops in the City.

"Flip-flops are for short walks or to wear by the pool; they’re not meant to be worn all day,” says Dr. Joshua Zeichner, MD, the director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC.

"Exposing the skin to dirt and microbes can lead to infections ranging from athlete’s foot to cellulitis and soft tissue infections."

“The actual flipping of the flop, says podiatrist Dr. Gary Evans, can lead to a severe heel callus, which in turn leads to cracks in the skin, which amounts to a cordial invitation for fungi to make their way into the foot and cause infection.

Physical injury is another major possibility. Flip-flops don’t offer any arch support or cushioning and shock absorption for the feet and legs. Without the support, your foot and toe muscles work extra hard to propel you through the gait cycle. That muscle overuse can yield everything from tendonitis and leg aches and pains to plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon pain, and even long-term shin splints.

Other reasons not to wear flip-flops include:

Becoming more susceptible to bug bites, cancer-causing sun overexposure, and hammertoes. Google "hammertoes" and you'll see what I mean.

The Mistress will not rest until all Crocs and flip-flops have been swept from view.

Lust for Lederhosen

According to Herbert Lipah, owner of the Royal Bavarian Lederhosen-Madness shop,"Once you try lederhosen on, your life will never be the same again."

[via]
Note: That is NOT Herbert Lipah, pictured above. We suspect it could be Herr Mago.

Lipah adds, "You don't need to clean lederhosen, or at least no more than once every two or three years."

We here at Infomaniac wonder if after several wearings your lederhosen would get a bit "whiffy" but each to his own. I suppose you could always Febreze liberally.

Have any of you Bitches tried on a pair of lederhosen? Did it change your life?

Crocs Overload

How many Crocs is too many? We here at Infomaniac say ONE pair of Crocs is too many but chef Mario Batali has taken it to ridiculous heights.

Batali owns 200 pairs of Crocs!!!... all of them orange. To match his ginger hair, we presume.

Most of you Bitches are aware of The Mistress's intense hatred of Crocs. So...

We want his head on a plate!...

There, On a Chair

Taking a page from Miss Scarlet's A Book on a Chair theme, we here at Infomaniac have decided to follow suit, in our own particular fashion...

While it's not a "book" on a chair, it's definitely something on a chair.

Dodgy Dentistry

[via]
If your dentist answers to the name "Mama Elda," that might be your first clue she's practicing dodgy dentistry.

Elda Graciela Margez De Zamora "Mama Elda" (pictured below) was practicing dentistry without a license from her bedroom in a Phoenix, Arizona apartment.

The bed was set up as a dental chair and the living room was turned into a waiting room, with chairs and magazines, police said.

Most countries in the developed world have laws preventing the unlicensed practice of dentistry but we here at Infomaniac found a few more rogue dentists:

Muhammet Velipasaoglu (pictured below) operated a backyard dental practice out of his garage without a license for more than a decade in Melbourne, Australia...

He treated hundreds of patients while unregistered and smoked cigarettes during surgery. He smoked, spoke on the phone, didn’t wear a face mask or gloves and had unwashed hands while performing nine consecutive root canals on a young woman.

She said that Velipasaoglu asked her to hold the suction tube herself during her root canal. She gave evidence that he “dropped several of his tools, picked them up and continued performing the procedures with the dropped instruments”.

Eliver Kestler, also known as "El Dentista," (pictured below) operated an unsanctioned mobile dentistry service out of his red Chevrolet sedan in Santa Fe, New Mexico...

Police discovered a portable drill machine and other dental equipment inside his car...

Anca Claudia Macavei (pictured below) attempted to fit a bridge in the mouth of a patient after setting up a temporary surgery in a McDonald's restaurant in London, England...

Bogdan Pavlyshyn, (pictured below on the right) ran an unlicensed dentistry from his basement in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada...

Items seized from his home included scalpel blades, high-speed dental drills, dental implants, needles, local anesthetic and an x-ray sensor.

“I knew what I was doing was wrong. But I did it anyway,” Pavlyshyn said.

And finally...

"If you are looking for a new custom-fit gold grill for your teeth, you need to go somewhere else besides the Sunshine Flea Market in West Palm Beach."

Yousef Abuelhawa operated "Best Grillz in Town," a Florida business making custom gold teeth overlays — known as "grills." Grills are decorative covers for your teeth, often made of gold, silver or even jewel-encrusted, like this...

Abuelhawa was charged with a third-degree felony of unlicensed practice of dentistry, punishable by up to five years in prison. He also was cited for more than $2,700 in and told to cease and desist his activity.

In summary, we here at Infomaniac suggest that if your dentist runs his/her dental office out of their bedroom, garage, car, fast-food restaurant, basement or flea market, you might consider taking your business elsewhere.

Perky Pick-Me-Up

The Mistress has been cleaning up after her house guests...

And now it's time for a refreshing "pick-me-up"...

Guests Guests Guests

The Mistress is busy preparing for a handful of house guests who are staying for *gasp* a week and a half.

There are meals to plan, bed linens to launder, and general housekeeping drudgery to endure.

The Mistress is not the greatest hostess so THIS is what you can expect of me...

[via]

I'll pop in occasionally to visit you but it's unlikely I'll be posting 'til the last guest has gone home. Sigh.
