  1. My primary memory of them was of unraveling and trying to rewind them back to to place. The player in my new HS graduation Mustang ate every tape that I tried to play. Not nostalgic about this trip down memory lane.

  2. Well if you're not going to pick a tune, make yourself useful and clean my windshield.

  3. They seem to have accidentally used a photo of Jerry Reed on the Dean Martin album.

  4. VON LX: The Clap.

Have you caught the clap in Berlin?

    You’re right!

    Good catch, Stacia!

    Oh, and happy 4th blogiversary!!!

  5. I remember being on holiday, sometime in the seventies, with my family. Our car broke down and we had to borrow my Uncle's Humber... it had a cartridge player [quite thrilling] but only two cartridges. One was Tammy Wynette... the other Petula Clark. One never forgets these things.
    Sx

  6. Oh my God! You can select Herbie Mann's Push, Push - one of the all time most creepy album covers of all time!

  7. And the selections even include a song called "Country Beaver"!

  8. I still have a few for my time capsule. If I had to pick from this list I'd pop in T REX.

You notice that when we were kids there was a real generation gap?
The adults (the "squares") had completely different music..
radio stations were mostly segregated by age and young people listened to hip & happenin' vibes.

I'm noticing that as our society is experiencing the end of the American Era, the end of "More is better", the demise of Manifest Destiny, and the death of happy forever-ever....that I like the same music as my 20 somethings.

I think it's really nice that we can all listen to the same stuff as the Sun collapses and it's corona expands and bakes the planet.

    Cool post.

  9. STACIA: Thanks MJ!

No, no…thank YOU for contributing to my film education.

Please select a tune, Miss Scarlet or I’ll make you get out and hitchhike.

Let’s have a closer look at that cover, shall we?

And shouldn’t that be Cuntry Beaver?

DONN: I still have a few for my time capsule. If I had to pick from this list I'd pop in T REX.

I’d like to see a grudge match involving Mantovani and Perry Como versus T Rex and Procol Harum.

I’ve always been partial to Bang a Gong.

  11. Can I have Petula Clarke?

    Can I, can I???

    With Mireille Mathieu!

  12. Fascinatingly odd selection of music! For sheer nostalgic perversity, I'd go for the Partridge Family. But I really want to hear Liza Minnelli sing the old Sonny & Cher divorce anthem "You'd Better Sit Down, Kids."

  13. My friends The Twins had an 8-Track. I seem to remember Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers.

  14. You don't mind if I slip in a little Burt do you Mistress... I find him very soothing....
These are form your personal collection I take it?

  15. Well since I was born just before Christmas in 1977 I wasn't really old enough to remember them. I only have one memory of 8-tracks. My Aunt had a yellow Weltron Space Ball Stereo that she took everywhere with us during the summers.

I was raised by two hippies so I have to pick #93972→Jimi Hendrix, "Star Spangled Banner"

    Huggs
    CoreyJo

Oh, Hai Jon, Princess, and everyone else!!

  16. I had many, many 8-tracks back in the day, but only one of the albums featured here. And I'm not sayin' which one!

I bet you forgot your Book-of-the-Month Club payments too.

Here’s a song for you, Norma.

    WW: Fragile Yes.

    Beginning with Roundabout.

DEEP BLUE: Can I have Petula Clarke?
    Can I, can I???
    With Mireille Mathieu!

Ce soir? Demain? La semaine prochaine?

    N'importe quand.

    Je cherche un site Web.

Ahhh, écoutes…tu as fait ça toi-même!

Here’s 3:25 of it. (scroll down the list to find it.)

Mistress MJ always leaves you wanting more.

GEOFF: My friends The Twins had an 8-Track. I seem to remember Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers.

They were a hit with all the ghouls.

PRINCESS: You don't mind if I slip in a little Burt do you Mistress... I find him very soothing....

How about a Burt Bacharach medley?

Plus a bonus photo of Bert and Angie.

The Spaceball … is that what the astronauts use to listen to music?

    You were raised by hippies?

    Never fear….there’s a support group.

THOMBEAU: I had many, many 8-tracks back in the day, but only one of the albums featured here. And I'm not sayin' which one!

It was “Portrait of Donny”…wasn’t it?!

  18. The Carpenters, followed by Anne Murray, Carole King and Joan Baez.

    HELP!

I’m trapped in a rolling head shop with candle making lesbians. Stopping by the roadside to sell, bongs, velvet posters, and dashikis’.

  19. I actually had the B 52's Wild Planet on 8-track....

    How modern.

Rolling head shop in your case means truck stop, doesn’t it?

    MANDA: So many oldies.

And we’re giving it away FREE on Infomaniac!

WALLY: I actually had the B 52's Wild Planet on 8-track....
    How modern.

Did you remember to clean the heads?

I’ll leave that one for AyeM8y to explain.

  22. Not a lesbian...yet, I haven't been turned.

I think they're waiting for a full moon ceremony. They seem to be making a lot of sage, patchouli and bigger candles.

See I was hitchin' my way out of the "19th Wheel" truck stop headed for Shreveport when this hippie van with naked ladies decal'd on the side pulled up and offered a ride...

  23. I need me some Tupelo Honey, followed by The Carpenters, a wee bit of Godspell, Roberta Flack, Kinks, Jimi, Liza, Tom Jones, Sonny & Cher, Lorreta, Donny, Joan Baez, America and ending my psychadelic musical trip, Black Sabbath.

Were they playing Indigo Girls and Tegan & Sara on their 8-track?

    Are you high?

  25. Let's start with Free, Sabbath, have a humble pie, Kinks and Jimi; Cooper, Vaughn, T.Rex; to wind down Van the man, Godfather, 5th dimension, America and Procul harum - and while at the end of the party anybody is stoned beyond recognition Partridge family, Humperdinck and Mantovani (oh Gott these strings! even the memory ....) may be an option.
