Wet Shave or Dry?

Wet shave (with shaving cream and a razor)?...

Or dry shave (with an electric shaver)?...

[via]

Which method of shaving do you Bitches prefer?

And have you ever had an old-fashioned wet shave from a barber with a straight razor (aka “cutthroat” razor) and hot towel?...

And do you remember your first shave?

  1. Since I'm not hairy, I do the dry shave myself. Unless I'm at a spa for the works. Mu first shave involved a weed whacker.

  2. I shave in the bath, without cream, but with a Gilette razor.

My first shave, hmmm. My brother was getting ready to go to Vietnam and he showed me how. Looking back, I realize there was a lot going on.

  3. I prefer it with cream and have no memory of my first time. Shaving that is. I DO remember sitting on the edge of the tub as a wee lad while my father would shave before work. He was always working and it was the only quality time I had with him.

    1. HAYWARD: Did your father ever let you lather up your face to “play shave?”

  4. In the shower after I finish washing everything else. Lather up the whiskers with soap then shaving cream on top. The whiskers are softened up by doing it at the end. Takes about 2.5 minutes for me to shave. If that.

My first shave was around 16. I had about five whiskers. I think someone told me I could use a shave. I shaved once a week until 18 or so.

    1. JEFFERY: From what I’ve heard, age 15 or 16 is around the time the first facial hair appears so you’re right on the mark.

  5. Electric, just like the second pix!

Coincidentally, I replaced the three rotary blades in my shaver just this morning!

I can’t even function properly with ONE!

  6. Extra wet - in the bath (like Peenee) with gel-cream (unlike Peenee) after a good long soak so the whiskers are softened (like Jeffery).
And no, never with a cutthroat & towel - I don't trust anyone that much!

  8. i recall a dermatologist telling me (when i was young) that electric shavers would escalate ingrown hairs.

i won't go into all sorts of details re: straight razors. i was "taught" how to use one, but never did learn. they did & do scare me to death. i failed state boards because of my failure to push thru my fears.

i was given many a shave with a straight razor....no big deal. hot towels are nice though.

    chubby has a gorgeous bathroom!

Although a trap door at your hairdressing station would be nice for all those "problem" clients.

  9. Wet of course. You're always after me for making a mess.

  10. I shave wet for some years now. I am not growing a strong beard, so once a week is enough, or every three to four days.
I can not remember when I shaved - or was shaved - for the first time. My father may have done this.
I once was given an electrical razor as a birthday gift, maybe around fourteen. And I dutifully used the electric thing(s) for years, but frankly never liked them. There was always an "electrical" smell, my skin felt strange, irritated ach ...
Years ago I was given the necessaire my grandfather once owned, made from leather. It contained an old fashioned razor. I used it, and all was good. It is correctly called a "Rasierhobel" - see here. Mine is double-edged. Very simple, clear design. The difficulty is to buy razor blades. You can not get them easily in a "Drogerie" anymore, crazy !
In the already mentioned necessaire was a small bottle of Tabac Original after Shave Lotion, seemingly sparsely used. Grandfather died in 1968 I think. It is like honey now.

    1. MAGO: I think it’s wonderful to have your grandfather’s “necessaire” kit. It’s such a personal item by which to remember him.

One of my male relatives was given an ancestor’s moustache cup … eine Barttasse. It's from the late 1800s.

  11. I use a Philips Aqua touch for wet and dry shaving, for the undercarriage and surrounding areas I use a disposable razor whilst squatting over a hand mirror.
