Reading Week Rocks!

In her newly published memoir, Grace Jones bares all, including picking up men with Jerry Hall and smoking joints with Marianne Faithfull...

Yes, it's READING WEEK here once again on Infomaniac.

The Mistress recently finished reading "Words Without Music: A Memoir" (2015) by Philip Glass...

"M Train" (2015) by Patti Smith...

And "Reckless: My Life as a Pretender" (2015) by Chrissie Hynde...

Now the Mistress has moved on to "Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink" (2015) by Elvis Costello ...

Another Patti Smith book, "Just Kids," (2010) in which she documents her relationship with artist Robert Mapplethorpe....

And "I'll Never Write My Memoirs" (2015) by Grace Jones...

So many books, so little time!

    2. I adore that book of Quentin's. The word tureen is definitely not used enough these days.

  4. I think there may be a link between these books. I can feel it in my bones :-) Jx

PS I haven't actually read anything, book-wise, in ages, much to my chagrin. My "to read" pile is seriously out-of-hand, and also includes a number of biographies - Frederick Ashton, Dusty Springfield, Kenneth Williams, Marianne Faithfull, Cecil Beaton and Tallulah Bankhead among them.

  7. Haven't read anything new lately. I'm in a re-reading phase, which means I'm reading again books that I greatly enjoy long ago just to see how much they have influenced my perception afterward. Right now I'm into re-reading Robert Jourdain's "Music, the Brain and Ecstasy". Brilliant!

  8. I've just finished The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, by Becky Chambers (brilliant!); still got American Gods, by Neil Gaiman, on the go; and have just started All That's Left (that's Star Trek, dear), by Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore.
I'm thinking I might have a go at Grace Jones' not-memoirs next as she's alweays fascinated me. Thanks for the heads-up.

  9. I just finished Mr. Gwyn by Alessandro Baricco. I red it in french....very good "intrigue". And "the gun seller" by Hugh Laurie, because I love Dr House but this book is not good at all. Very boring, no "intrigue".

  10. The Mistress's reading week has been interrupted by petty matters that she must attend to but rest assured she is taking note of your comments and jotting down titles.

    1. CANADIAN GIRL: Both the Philip Glass book and Patti Smith's "M Train" are excellent choices.

I also recommend Patti Smith's "Just Kids," if you haven't already read it. I love her style of writing.
