Just like Jeffery, I use actual bookmarks. I get them every time I buy a book, plus we used to buy them as souvenirs when traveling.
I enjoy I good bookworm. I also want to remind one to remove a bookworm before slamming the book shut.
I use Mr. Peenee's used bookmarks. I'm all for sloppy seconds!
My bookmarks are usually whatever's to hand - receipts, Post-its, scraps of paper, gift tags, bits of string, and sometimes even an actual bookmark.

If I'm reading a paperback I usually just turn down a corner of the page for hardbacks I use old postcards, the one you sent me of the choir boys is nestled deep inside Jilly Cooper.
