ReplyDeleteSometimes the language is a tad stronger, but it is nice to see results.
DeleteIt's all so exotic, and it's all next to the ocean!! *more wailing*

Not quite, Scarlet...the ocean's about 1 minutes walk. And about 30 minutes slogging back uphill. But it is lovely.
DeleteGlorious.
ReplyDeleteApart from the Brugmansia (which does grow outdoors here with protection), we have to go to Kew Gardens to see anything like this! Imagine - drag queens at Kew... Jx
Hahaha! That can be your next Kew Project--looking for drag queens!
DeleteI adore the Angels Trumpet!!!!! I love your assortment of finery Dinahmow
ReplyDeleteI have several of those, but, so far, only this one has flowered. It came to me from a blog friend in Sydney a few years ago.And the evening perfume is wonderful!
DeleteA friend's mother in New Orleans had her backyard filled with the loveliest pink Brugmansia. She would occaisionally hack off a stem and stick it in the ground where it would root.
DeleteThey strike readily an, apart from gallons of water, don't need much. But don't let the kiddies nibble them-quite poisonous, though their relative, the Datura can kill you if ingested.
DeleteJust lovely! I have the trumpet plants growing wild all over my yard. One that is very close to the sidewalk will bloom and people will take entire stalks of blooms. I found out recently that the blooms are considered hallucinogenic!
ReplyDeleteYep.I knew of one or two Leary advocates back in the 60s who experimented.
DeleteThe Drag Queen looks exquisite, dried and sprayed silver they would make attractive earrings for an actual drag queen or a blind person.
ReplyDeleteYes, they would, but, sadly, they don't dry nicely. After a week or so those gorgeous blooms go all limp and soggy.
DeleteA gorgeous selection! I'm particularly taken by that Fraser Island Creeper.
ReplyDelete* waits patiently for global warming - or just in Britain would do - to grow triffids like Dinahmow *
