Be Careful What You Wish For

In a previous post, The Mistress said her idea of a perfect weekend was staying in bed. Well, her wish was granted...

An injury on Friday confined The Mistress to her bed for the past several days. The upside, as you can see, is that she was able to tackle the stack of books at her bedside.

How about you, Bitches? Have you ever wished for something and had it come true, only to discover that it wasn't as good as what you expected?

  1. Wishes NEVER come out the way one hopes. The Wisher always ends up disappointed/out-of-their-depth/dead - it's those looks of disappointment that made me become a witch rather than a fairy godmother.

I won't "wish" you a speedy recovery, but I will hope for one.

    1. Thank you, Mr. DeVice.

I should like to take this opportunity to inform one and all that the injury did not occur on a ladder. The Mistress obeys her own Public Service Announcements. Practice what you preach, and all that.

  3. As a matter of fact yes. I remember thinking it might be nice to spend a night with Jeff Stryker just once. Ended up with lock jaw for a month.

  4. Wishes coming true usually cause a lot of hard work.
Take care, m'dear and I hope you are well soon.
P.S Don't trip over that pile of books on the way to the loo.

    1. MISS SCARLET: I’m glad to see you’re able to comment again.

To prevent accidents, I shall make certain they’re trade paperbacks, not HARDcovers.

  5. AN INJURY ! HEavens forbid !
The emergency case, quick ! LEaches ! Buttersticks ! A prayer circle !

    ... the bicycle, eh ?

Few of the things I wished for ever came true, sometimes it was as good as expected. In other cases I concentrate(d) on the positive side of things, and abstain(ed) from pointing at the not so well received points. But I point out if something is negative or counter productive.

Recover fully, please, wurschtegal how long it takes. I only hope there are enough houseboys around to help with mundane things. And that you will not snow in - or is it mandatory for Canadians to have winter supplies ready mid-November ?

    1. MAGO: Thankfully, the house was fully winterized last week. This involves many preparations such as removing screens from windows, setting out mats for winter boots, checking furnace performance, making draft dodgers, etc.

    There. There.

    Wishes actually come true?

  7. My first thought was a house boy who'd done something silly with his ladder...

I'll drink an extra glass of bubbles for you later.

    1. DINAHMOW: It wasn’t an issue of falling down the stairs, either.

Although I’ve had to slide down the stairs on my arse since the injury.

And thank you for the Public Service Announcement - I hope you march ahead as shining example and keep your front door shut.
All that Jever the young man in the picture consumed would confuse the ablest navigator, no wonder he ended up on your bathroom floor !

  8. So many times at the baths, I'd see a really cute guy and think "Oooooh, dat's what I want." and then he would turn out to be a dud. Cute guys: are they really worth it? I hope you feel better soon.

    1. PEENEE: Are cute guys worth it? 9 times out of 10, I’d say no.

The Mistress has researched this topic thoroughly (although not at the baths) and should know.

  10. I loathe reading you're under the weather!

I once wished for someone to die & they didn't.
    Really bummed me out.
