Grease is the Word

Thieves are going after grease...

... and these grease grabbers are stealing it from restaurants. As much as $75 million of grease is illegally siphoned every year.

The demand for fryer oil, aka “yellow grease” is on the upswing. A spike in biofuel prices has increased demand for the golden gunk to be refined into biofuel for cars and trucks.

Recently, two men were arrested for grease theft at a Wingstop restaurant in Knoxville, Tennessee. They were set to walk away with over 2,000 pounds of yellow grease, which they could have sold for about $600. 44 similar thefts were reported in that same time period.

“It’s like crack money,” Sumit Majumdar, president of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. told Bloomberg. “There’s an actual market for stolen oil. It’s almost like a pawn shop or scrap-metal business.”

Lock up your deep fryers, Bitches.

  2. I think Travolta is ill-advised to use Fast Freddie's services, really what does he expect ? A little bit more discretion would not harm.

I like these grease-grabbers. Travelling the country in an old Pepsi van stealing the fat of the land sounds romantic. They will be heroes like the depression era robbers in no time : Outlaws of Fat ! Just give it a "green" inking.

Mike Kostelac, president of Millstadt, Illinois-based Ace Grease Service, which collects from restaurants in 12 states, says, “This grease industry is the wild, wild west.”

  3. About 10 years ago kits to make biodiesel at home began to be available. There big tanks, pumps, and chemical involved to filter and treat discarded fryer grease to make it into usable biodiesel. At the time the grease was free, otherwise the restaurants would have to pay to have it taken away. It apparently worked as well as conventional diesel, except it made the car's exhaust smell like french fries!

    1. JON: Your "friend" (you Bitches seem to have a lot of "friends") should pose this question to Mr. DeVice as he's known for his purchases of industrial-sized vats of Boy Butter.

He may be into Boy Butter DIY for all we know.
