With the Kitchen Queen Contest deadline just two weeks away, we know you must be pouring over your favourite cookbooks, looking for inpsiration.
And that's why we here at Infomaniac want to know...
Which cookery books do YOU turn to time and time again?
Tell us about some of your faves.
I get a creepy sort of Hansel and Gretel vibe from Fanny and Johnnie.
ReplyDeletePS: Did I win yet?
"Happy Cooking Children"...this just proves why commas matter.
Delete*ignores PS*
"don't let my timmy overcook!"
DeleteResistance is futile, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteSx
Ahem...
DeleteWhere is the Smeg?
My thoughts went into the same direction, MsScarlet ...
DeleteI will take a pic of storage solutions for ingredients and other things.
ReplyDeleteSx
Excellent.
DeleteNow is ANYONE going to discuss cookbooks?
fanny and johnny were sweethearts.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we'll just open up the comment section to FANNY JOKES today seeing as no one wants to stick to the topic!
ReplyDeleteKabuki does enjoy the lovely cookbooks of Julia Child. Joy of Cooking is kabuki's go to reference. Kabuki cannot and will not tolerate Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, guy fiero, or Bobby Flay. Martha Stewart is just silly. No one can ever replace graham Kerr.
ReplyDeletePs did kabuki win?
kabuki needs to submit an actual RECIPE in order to win.
DeletePerhaps you are heating something up under your kimono as we speak?
You rock and are 10000 times of awesome. I too am a Graham Kerr fan and am surgically attached to my 'Joy'. Ditto on Rachel, Paula, Guy, Bobby and Martha, whose recipes never work. POOP on them is what I say. Daily.
DeleteWhat is 'Martha Stewart'? It seems to be everywhere and do everything. But it seems to be afraid to set foot in the UK.

She was on "This Morning" a couple of weeks ago making pecan pie, Eamon Holmes said it looked like doggie doos.
DeleteWhere are Brits supposed to get pecans?
DeleteI misread that, and thought we were discussing "pelicans". But then, I am drinking cider. Jx
DeleteJON: Strongbow?
DeleteThe rust remover of ciders?
I'm not blokey enough to drink that battery acid! A nice mouthful of Gaymers for me! Jx
DeleteBrith Emeth Temple cookbook from 1968. With recipes like "hamburger on the grille" how can one go bad?
ReplyDeleteBrith Emeth Temple?
DeleteI thought she was an evangelist.
Oh wait…that’s Aimee Semple McPherson.
The thing my mother got at her wedding in the fifties; its basically by Dr. Oethker; the important things are the notes, receipes, variants by any cooking family member like mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, diverse aunts and friends.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes have a look at a nice picture book called "Internationale Spezialitäten", from the late eighties I guess; includes sweets and Torten too.
And there is socalled "Schwäbisches Kochbuch" ("Suebian Cookbook") for occaisons I want to kill by calories.
A vegetarian one with pictures from the nineties. Oh, and the illustrated aldi-magazine of course.
DeleteJa?
Nein.
DeleteSorry to disappoint you:
This one, by Ursula Grüninger, 1. Auflage Stuttgart 1979.
They love their calories in Suebia ...
I have some old cook book that has a recipe for squirrel pie... and it has other weird recipes, one of which requires six gallons of gin. I will hunt it out tomorrow as I don't refer to it often.
ReplyDeleteSx
One is not often called upon to bake squirrel pie, is one?
DeleteA Fray Bentos pie, perhaps.
Six gallons of gin is how you make LX. Hee Hee
ReplyDeleteteehee @kabuki.
DeleteToo bad about Fanny's scoliosis.
ReplyDeleteScoliosis?
DeleteI thought it was gas.
All my buns come out the oven looking like Fanny's.
ReplyDeleteDo you smother your buns in fanny batter, Mitzi?
DeleteFanny is the guy on the left, eh?
ReplyDeleteI'm quite certain you've never seen Fanny up close and personal, have you, Jon?
DeleteAm I missing anything?
DeleteClick here, Jon.
DeleteSo, I'm a retard... toujours bon à savoir!
DeletePas du tout!
DeleteBITCHES: Has anyone noticed that Fanny and Johnnie are luring the little children into the oven with a CLOWN?
ReplyDeleteLook on the oven door!
hadn't noticed that!
Deleteokay, i've heard of surf & turf,
but what do you call clown & lobster?
circus & surf?
baked stuffed bozo?
Smurf and surf?
DeleteLe Guide Culinaire...
ReplyDeleteI guess that makes me a bitch, so, I must be in the right place!
No matter how you dress it up, "les grits" are still grits.
